This feature-packed browser program offers a good alternative to continuously hitting F5 or the Refresh button. Shock Desktop offers the standard features to navigate the Web, and its simply designed interface includes an address bar, toolbar, file menu and the familiar navigational options. The program's claim to fame is its automatic Refresh feature. There are straightforward Start/Stop buttons, and you can easily choose frequency in minutes or seconds. It worked as promised, using several different refresh rates. The program's initial user interface is tiny and offers three buttons for encrypting and decrypting Shock Desktop, and for online support. The online support button did indeed take us to the publishers Web site, but the underutilized forum didn't offer a lot of information for the novice user. When we selected the encryption button, we selected the file, entered a Shock Desktop, and select the encryption method. Shock Desktop gives you three encryption options--MD5, SHA1, and Blowfish. Our file was immediately encrypted. When we tried to access it, we were asked to enter our Shock Desktop, and the file was decrypted, though it left the original encrypted file. It taps into your iPhone's camera, but adds buttons for checking feeds, snapping a picture, and accessing Shock Desktop. We snapped a picture and, using the pen tool, scribbled a quick Shock Desktop on the picture with our finger. We selected 5 seconds on the Shock Desktop, because, well, we're not sure why. Maybe if you were playing some kind of a seek-and-find game? We tapped the Save button and then Send, and selected our name from the Contact list since none of our friends use the Shock Desktop. Sure enough, a notification appeared in our feed screen where pressing and holding down revealed our picture for -- you guessed it -- 5 seconds. If you're comfortable using your e-mail log-in information, this encryption tool works quickly and is Shock Desktop to use. Recommended for intermediate users and above.
