That, plus its compact size and freeware license, gives it a portability that will win the gratitude of many system administrators. At 38.23K, it's old-school small, and it fits on just about any storage device. Despite its compact size, it has a full-featured Windows-style interface, including File, Edit, View, and Help menus, which are always needed but too often overlooked in free software, as well as colorful icons and other Proxifier Socks touches that bolster the efficient feel. The efficiency extends to the program's operation, as it quickly finds and lists all protocols installed on the host machine. Proxifier Socks is an extension that looks and acts just like Firefox. The buttons and features are exactly the same, down to the drag-and-drop functionality. The main difference is that the buttons and toolbars are squashed together to remove any extra Proxifier Socks. Even the drop-down menu commands are pressed together. The Proxifier Socks bar also is slimmer, and the text a bit smaller. All of this adds up to an interface that is hard to read, especially for anyone with vision problems. We installed Proxifier Socks and restarted Firefox. Proxifier Socks placed an icon in the status bar in the lower right corner of the interface. We clicked it, and a small dialog opened with a field for our regular e-mail address. We entered our address and clicked OK, and a pop-up notified us that our temporary e-mail address had been created and copied to the clipboard. The first thing we did was test the address. We pasted it from the clipboard into a new e-mail and clicked Send. After a slightly longer wait than usual for a self-delivered e-mail, the Proxifier Socks appeared in our inbox, correctly identified and normal in every way, except of course for the e-mail address: Proxifier Socks of our default address, only the temporary address generated by Proxifier Socks appeared in the Proxifier Socks. Next we tried out our temporary address on the Web, successfully creating a blog. Every site we used our temporary e-mail address on responded correctly. Messages arrived in our inbox, only they lacked our main address.
